This extremely large room is made of warm, honey-toned wood that calls to
mind the Lightwood and Haon'Dor forests, making the vast space seem some-
how warm and cozy despite its size. Tall, narrow windows of clear glass,
bracketed by emerald green curtains made of some light, airy fabric, span
nearly the full height of the walls, allowing amber sunlight to pour into
the chamber. The width of the north wall is taken up with a gigantic map
set in a wide frame and facing it is an oak desk with a golden marble top
cluttered with countless piles of documents. A thick, soft rug of browns
and greens is almost like the forest floor underfoot and a crackling fire
in the hearth on the south wall fills the area with warmth.

The entire north wall is covered in a gigantic map, the detail of which
is mind-boggling. Each and every town and village is represented, every
forest and road as well. The oceans and the islands found therein are a
bright detail, a tiny sailing ship seeming to move within the painting.

was changing and growing as you gaze upon it. It would take mighty magic
to create such an image! The frame of the map is gilded with gold and is
carved with images of wood-nymphs and dryads.

 Finally the time came when he was deemed to have repaid his debt to society, and was released from his indenture. The next day he was on a small skiff, heading north from his only home towards the main continent in search of adventure. Adventure he sought, and adventure he found, and along the way he came to be know to many powerful beings. One such being was a God of the land, by the name of Ivorytiger. In testing his influences among the mortals of this land this being came to ordain Kennet as his one and only Paladin. Normally only a gift bestowed by good immortals on their human followers, but the gods are capricious, and soon Ivorytiger tired of this game and he cast Kennet away. But Kennet survived the ordeal, perhaps a little changed, but richer in the knowledge of who his parents had been, the last gift of a capricious god. Not long after he found his lost family and though neither of his parents would acknowledge him he came to find a kindred spirit in his half-brother, Keller D'Augustine. For many years Kennet and Keller roamed the land in the service of Tel, the God of Passionate, slaying evil and learning much about the world around them. <BR><BR>
 After a time Kennet came to fall into a great sleep, the nature of which he would never know, and upon awakening he found the world around him much changed. No longer did his brother Keller walk the land, no longer did his Lord Tel illuminate his soul from up on high. And Kennet came to feel a loneliness that he had never known.  A strange looking man, covered in scars and well worn eq, though it seems to be fairly new, stands here, smoking a cigarette. "Ahh! So you've come to hear my tale have you?"<BR><BR>His tale? What could this freak have to say that'd be the least bit interesting? Intrigued, you nod, and sit down on the toadstool that seems to have popped up as he waved you to a spot to sit. <BR><BR>"Well, then, let me introduce myself..." The man smiles, and you feel a wash of emotions and intents...feelings of joy, anger, rage, pain...as well as intents to help, heal, hinder, and kill....you swoon for a moment as all this starts to fade, and your gaze meets his.<BR><BR>The man chuckles. "You need more training. Oh well, we'll get to that later....let the story begin..."<BR><BR>"Back in the 'Middle Age" as I call it, I was still new to this realm. I'd been traversing various dimensions for so many millennia, and never quite found anything like this one. It was unique. So I decided to stay and learn more. Amongst that time, I learned of death in this realm. Now, I was never any stranger to death, it's been a favorite past-time for forces of evil to try to kill me. Sometimes, they even succeed. Yet, for some reason the 'laws' of this reality were forcing me to have to start over from scratch. Me, of all people! Now, I don't mind training up new arts to add to what I know, but no matter how hard I tried, my former knowledge wasn't  enough."<BR><BR>"I died many times, in a short span, and learned a few ways of the realm. Around that time, I met [[Tripper]], and became friends with him, although he had ascended to the rank of Demigod. He was very kind, and he had as many interesting stories  to tell of the earlier ages. Yet he never tired of hearing of my exploits about the various realities, though sometimes he couldn't truly believe them. I can't blame him, sometimes I wonder how much of my memory is real myself. Time went by, and eventually I decided it was time to return to my  wanderings. And time to go home. Which I did. I'd spent a couple hundred years studying this realm, it was only fair that I returned to the old Inn to tell some of my compatriots of this realm. It took me a week before I remembered that some had already visited, but everyone seemed fairly interested anyway. I went back to my random views of various realities, and one day, I returned to the Inn....to find it empty."<BR><BR>"It dawned on me a little too late that maybe I shouldn't have crossed the brightly colored trails surrounding my 'home'. About 5 seconds too late. Next I knew, all was pure chaos. The pain was astounding, and rational thought completely out of my reach. Nothing but void and energy....and me. Who knows how long I remained trapped there. Could have been an eternity, could have been a week. I do remember though, feeling someone calling for me... from this very realm. I didn't think it was possible, part of me leapt for it, and part of me recoiled...the beginning of my shards. I split, broken, and those pieces of me that reached towards the call found themselves recombining into a vague semblance of myself....in Tripper's temple. It was he who pulled me from the void...as I hadn't shown myself to this realm as I'd promised I would to exchange more stories. I was alive, not that that mattered to me, I'd died so many times throughout my previous 23,000 years, or so, that death had long since lost all meaning. Why worry about death when it doesn't seem to stick?"<BR><BR>"But I learned of new troubles with my situation. I'd lost EVERYTHING I'd gained in power, most of my memories were broken, and what little I could claim of my power and skill was in ruins. So I started anew. And I learned. And explored.<BR><BR>I found Dragon's Lairs, and demonic hoards. I slaughtered many, often with assistance from those around me, such as [[Skeeve]], [[Athorne]], [[Khorlan]], [[Wistom]],[[ Fei]], [[Lins]], [[Shon]], and [[Noctus]]. And many others. I also died many times, slain by those same hoardes, or their brothers, all too eager to exact revenge upon me when I ran into them."<BR><BR>"As I learned, I grew in powers and skill. Eventually, I learned how to use death to my advantage, using it to place me in strategic spots I could return to amidst the most vicious of beings about the realm, grabbing whatever the goal was, a corpse, an item, whatever my personal crusade at the time was. Most people never understood the tactics, and merely called me 'The Suicide Mage'. I've heard even Slue cringes at my name after the amount of damage I've caused or brought about the centuries.<BR><BR>Time, and people, came and went. Tripper left the realm, having found a higher calling in another. I joined with [[Solanthas]] and his [[Wardancers]] along with many of my striped brethren, and was quickly tossed out by he too leaving."<BR><BR>"Then I met [[Coleman]]. He was newly returned to the realm, and I offered my services as his first follower. With Coleman's help, and my fellow Mirthites, including such as [[Arella]], though she was young then when I trained her, and [[Schwartz]], who was also an ancient legend reborn, I drove my mortal enemies to distraction. Few could kill me, fewer could catch me...[[Vex]], the Ordained of the Goddess [[Bliss]], was one of the most adamant about his attempts....yet he rarely succeeded. If ever. I'd learned well the tricks of the realm, the nooks and crannies most are scared to look for and even more afraid of finding, and used such places to hone my skill farther. Many I loved came and went throughout the times...Karalyn, one I raised from her arrival to the realm, who joined with my enemies, yet still loved me truly...[[Riella]], an old friend, and former follower of [[Tripper]] with me, whom I also helped and watched grow from youth to legend, and finally, [[Analay]], who was with me through my days as a Mirthite, and on past them when Coleman...disappeared. Leaving me, and all of the Mirthites, behind, with little explanation. My growth had neared it's pinnacle, and I was again alone."<BR><BR>”For a short time. For that was when [[Kerriariadne]] came to me. He offered me a home, friends, allies where I'd formerly had enemies. So I changed from the completely good natured soul I was, and allowed it to be shadowed, taken by the Glorious [[Dark]]ness. I am by no means evil, but he taught me how to use my Darker sides to my advantage, rather than to my enemies'. I learned how to truly lead those about me, and worked hard amidst my suicidal tendencies to achieve more and more. Which often left me dead, repeatedly, but my dedication never wavered. I persevered, and moved on, slaughtering some, learning how best to bring down the Dragons with my longtime compatriot Rufus, with the skills and tactics taught to me by my elders. As the world changed, so did I, learning how best to stay in harmony with the realm about me.”<BR><BR>”Then Kerri too, was taken from me. And I found myself homeless once more, left alone and adrift, I wandered, and thought of possible paths. A couple decades servicing those younglings about me, and trying to lead them, though I later learned that the enchantments had not been finished by the Creator of the realm, [[Tynian]]. Though it pained me to have to abandon that which was giving me, and those younglings who were learning from me, hope for my own path, and theirs. having learned the enchantments were incomplete, I turned instead to one of the people in this realm I trust the most, the Lady of Fate, the Weaver, [[Cordir]].<BR><BR>She had been leading my longtime friends, [[Noctus]], [[Rufus]], even [[Tranquility]], for millennia. She knew I was 'broken', yet she accepted me for who I am, and what I've done. Now, I serve the Lady as her Blade. I am the sum of my past, the student, the trickster, the Master and Teacher. I am evil, yet good, yet neither....”<BR><BR>With this the man leans back and looks up at the sky. He seems to be...listening... to something....but you cannot make out anything unusual. That story....was that a story?<BR><BR>The Suicide Mage?<BR><BR>Something clicks in your memory, and you remember various stories about a man considered insane rushing against Dragons, death merely a tool to him. A man who seems to have no true family, and enemies in more places than most could imagine. And also as many friends. THE. Suicide. Mage.<BR><BR>You come out of your reverie and see that Belsambar is now standing, a concerned look flashing across his...rugged features....he seems less strange now, the scarring having lent it's own beauty to his already handsome face, upon closer inspection. You start to ask him...something....the thought flashes about your mind, but you're unable to vocalize, and speak it.<BR><BR>Belsambar turns to you and grins mischievously. "Well. Someone had an accident. Pardon me, I must be off before the Arch-Lich's minions beat me to the fray..."<BR><BR>His hands begin weaving a spell and his voice intones some keywords to a magic spell. A portal opens before him, and he starts to step through. He takes a quick look back at you,  and winks. "Just remember. If you need help, I'm easy enough to find. Just look for anyplace recently scorched by dragonfire. Or other such calamities. They just seem to follow me around..."<BR><BR>His eyes glaze over, and he mutters something..."Ok, ok, I'm coming, I'm coming, it'll be alright..." as he walks through the portal, which snaps shut behind him.<BR><BR>You shudder as you recall some of his known ventures, things sung by Bards in taverns, the occasional painting of the Suicide Mage bringing destruction to a town as he runs from the source, trying his best to lead it away...of various warriors and scholars who claim he recovered such and such artifact for them, or recounts on how he'd saved their lives. Suicide Mage. Hell of a life, you think to yourself. If you can call it that.<BR><BR>
