[ 33] Cordir: Memorial Day Weekend Events
Sun May 22 13:56:36 2011
To: All

I will be hosting/sponsoring a pair of events over Memorial Day weekend.

The first will be a pair of scavenger hunts: One, mud generated. The 2nd, manually generated. The mud generated quest will run Saturday & Sunday. The manually generated quest will be run on Monday, and will have a theme to the items. Both quests will have prizes for the top scorers.

The second event will be a special auction to be held at noon, system time, on Monday. This auction will be for items that are based upon ones from 'memorial' zones: ie, areas that no longer exist on TFC, from 1x & 2x. (For clarity: the item description will replicate an old item. The effects will be appropriate to todays economy, but *based* on the effect of the original item.) Item effects will NOT be revealed during the sale. This is to give players who were around in 1x/2x days - and remember the eq of yore - a touch of an advantage, as a thank you for their longevity.

The prizes for the big scavenger hunt will be items along the same theme as the auction: Old timey names, current value effects.

For the auction:

  • You are bidding BLIND. ONLY the NAME of the item, not its effects, will be announced for the auction. Please take only the bidding risks you are comfortable with.
  • There will be minimum bids set.
  • IF you do not like the item you wind up with, please do not complain about it on a channel that will info. This will only discourage the auctioneer (Me!) from doing such things in the future, and is a big huge bummer.

For Clarity for our non-USA players: Memorial Day Weekend = May 28, 29, 30th.

[ 36] Cordir: The Secondary Scavenger Hunt
Mon May 30 11:55:35 2011
To: All Who Enjoy a Hunt

This hunt is much smaller, with a much shorter duration. It's theme, is my life.
There are thirty items to collect, one for each level of mage craft I learned as
a mortal. Each has specific meaning to me: an event, a place, a life.
ONE item must be turned in, in person, to me at the Room of Records: the corpse,
steak, or bag of Vil. The remainder can be turned in, per normal, via the submit
command. The corpse/steak/bag of Vil is worth an additional TEN points.

Also, to give value to some ... unusual items I have sold in grab bags this year,
the following items also may be turned prior to quest end in for extra points:

The heart of Fennoch
The heart of Merrick
Nati's lost brain
A golden ticket

Our winners for this mini quest were: Ink, Sagan, Corri! Two brains were turned in, as well as three corpses of Vil. Thank you to all who participated!
