Official Information

ARCHMAGE ARCHMOB ARCHMOBS AMMQ

Archmobs are MOBS with additional capabilities that tend to make them more
powerful and dangerous than the run of the mill mob.

An ArchMob Mini-Quest, or AMMQ, is a contest that god+ will sometimes
run for high level characters. Here's how it works: If a character is
interested in participating, they need to SIGNUP. Once the quest begins,
the archmobs will start hunting the participants. To win this mini-quest,
a character has to 1) survive (cannot die during the duration of the quest),
and 2) must score the most points (at least 1 point).

Points are scored by killing the hunting archmobs. Contestants are
eliminated if they are killed during the contest.

The typical AMMQ duration is 20 minutes, though they can last for a longer
or shorter duration.

Player Provided Information

Types

There are generally two types of AMMQs: "KYN" (Kill Your Neighbor) or "TF" (Team Friendship.
With KYN, kill-stealing, pk, thievery of all sorts and generally in-it-for-yourself behavior is allowed. Participants and non-participants alike can interact. Teams are allowed.
In a TF, high standards of sportsmanship are required. NO interferance by other participants or non-participants is allowed. No kill stealing, thievery, etc. Doing so is grounds for (painful) ejection (by death) from the AMMQ.

When Cordir runs an AMMQ, she will announce whether or not it is KYN or TF.
When Thor runs an AMMQ, it is *always* assumed to be KYN.

General Info

  • Immortal assistance is not allowed during any AMMQs. No spells, summons, etc.
  • a prize of one Quest Point is given to the winner of an AMMQ
  • No more than 3 AMMQs are run per day
  • Anyone beating the current top score (1260) will receive an additional QP, and their score becomes the new score to beat.
  • Bards who die during an AMMQ will *NOT* lose their Lyricals. (However, if it's a KYN, be careful that someone doesn't take advantage of the quest end to get in a quick kill!!)
  • The many Arch-Shaman mobs that are generated during an AMMQ tend to pepper the world with Phosphates, which can last for hours after a quest. :(

Tynian: Mob hunting quest

 To: all

To celebrate the creation of the new shamanic master mobs, I will be running a mob quest almost exactly like the mage mob quest back in March.

The quest will start on the morning of Saturday, May 10th, at approximately 8am mud time, and will last for 8 hours. During that time, the 'alljust', 'free20', 'noeqloss' and 'nosafe' options will be set. See HELP GAME SETTINGS for what this means.

The quest itself is pretty simple. Mage and shaman mobs will be trying to kill you. You will be trying to kill the HUNTING mobs that are specifically for the quest. You'll get a message if you kill one. Other players will likely be trying to kill you. You may kill other players.

The object is two fold. The first is NOT TO DIE. You die, you're done with the quest. The second is to kill the hunting mage mobs. Doing so will get you points.

For a prize, you must score in the top 3, must have been online at least 4 hours during the quest period, score at least 1000 points, and must *not* have died. If there is anyone like that by the end of the contest, the prizes are as follows:

1st: +5 damage on body dragon scale
2nd: +4 damage on body dragon scale
3rd: +3 damage on body dragon scale

To participate, you MUST use the 'signup' command to sign up prior to the quest beginning.

Anyone can sign up, but this quest is clearly geared to higher level characters. Lower level character will be at a "slight" disadvantage. ;-) Immortals may assist their followers.

Note that the game settings should make for a relatively safe quest; however, should something go wrong with them, PLEASE DO NOT ABUSE THE PROBLEM. For instance, if someone dies, and their corpse does not
appear in their inventory, don't loot the corpse! cmdlog the person with the problem, post a note, and help them out.

ONCE THE QUEST ENDS (AND TO BE SAFE, A COUPLE OF MINUTES BEFORE):
 *** *** GET TO A SAFE ROOM *** ***

The safety settings automatically shut off, and the mobs *should* quit hunting, but this is not a good area to take chances.
