Even the weight of your gaze is enough to warn him of your presence. ... 
as if the sound of your footsteps hadn't alerted him long before  you entered
the room.

Turning slowly, he shifts to face you, and is unusually silent beneath your 
perusal.  So _this_ is the Grand Knight of the Arch-Lich's Conclave...
If tale be true, one of the Realm's more capable and skilled murderers, 
and one as quick witted as quick of reparte.  His stance is light, coiled,
like some great and deadly beast ready to strike.  He chuckles softly and 
nods. 'I'm not hunting.  You're  safe.. for now.'  His voice comes eerily 
from beneath a midnight-dark cowl and though he assures your safety for
the moment, his hands still graps his weapon and shield - a fearsome, 
wicked thing of black steel covered in spikes.

Suddenly, his demeanor changes from one of casual alertness to that  
of a predator scenting prey.  'Do excuse me... I believe I have ...  work...
to do.'  He mutters an unintelligible phrase, and a white light surrounds 
him as he strides from view.
Daelin won't win any beauty contests.

Trivia:

  • Daelin is the first Mortal to set foot within the Realm after going 3x.
  • Daelin was a member of the TFC Explorer's Society for finding The Trading Post, and for this, he is mentioned on Plaque6 in the Room of Records.
  • Daelin received mention in BlissPoll 2000A: Most Powerful Mortal, Most Humorous Mortal, Most Intimidating Mortal, Best Looking Mortal, and Most Irritating Mortal.
  • Daelin received mention in BlissPoll 2002B for Funniest Mortal and All Time Most Powerful.
  • Daelin was blindingly fast at trivia. Oftentimes, trivia contests came down to he and Jahiliya, battling it out for top spot.
  • Daelin was known for being very vocal on gossip. This made him one of the more polarizing characters in TFC's history. (Perhaps as a side effect of this, Daelin appears here and there throughout the Quotables.)
  • As a result of past issues, and as a direct result of Immortal Disrespect (gossiping that he was rolling his eyes at Lorna), Daelin was punished in a completely unique way: He was stripped of his worship of Molo and membership in the Black Conclave
  • Daelin was not only present at the wedding of Cordir and Deamhan An-Shalach, he actually role-played a part in the ceremony much to the shock of others who saw him only as a PK'er.
  • Daelin provided all of the limited items that Cordir was wearing when she was promoted to Ambassador. (Knowing what glee Tynian has in destroying nice/limited equipment upon promotions, Cordir asked for Daelin's help in gathering appropriately 'important' and - more importantly - pretty clothing.)
  • Daelin created a "newbie" just to torment Cordir when she was a new Ambassador.
  • Daelin referred to the Storytelling Amphitheater as his 'office.' During the time he was ejected from the Black Conclave, he took up residence in one of the Smoldering Temples on the lower floor of the Temples.
  • Daelin was a prolific PK'er. For example: Daelin Vs Boyardee.
  • Daelin was listed on the Court of Justice's List of Offenders and Suspects.

  • For several years, Boyardee and Daelin played a game of 'pass the rock.' Daelin gives a large rock to Boyardee. Boyardee says (in common), 'we're playing catch'. Daelin says (in common), 'it's a good strength-building activity'.
  • Daelin represented the mud as its 'lawyer' in the trial of "TFC vs Alive." This fact has been used in multiple triva contests.

04/25/2011 		While Daelin really wasn't much of one for RP, he and I had a number of very fun chats over the years. As a mortal, I counted him as a friend. He never really quite knew what to think of my madcap RPs, but was very kind and willing to help fetch this or that, slay horrible mobs, or just stand around and look brooding. He granted permission to be included in an offline story co-written back and forth between Deamhan An-Shalach and myself. When he was reformed by Nayr as a form of punishment, it hit him very hard, and to some extent, permanently changed his enjoyment of TFC. While many just remember him as a snide voice on gossip, I remember Daelin very fondly.

06/01/11 		Daelin is the only person to have ever killed Maimer. He was one of those fun people to talk to, like Pez and Wish, with a fun banter back and forth, even if he was evil.

1999 & 2000

  • January 10, 1999: Tynian posts some notes about respect & Daelin & the new version.
  • February 4, 1999: Daelin's pfile becomes corrupted and he starts seeing things from a Dark Brother's point of view: Daelin The Dark Brother.
  • February 6, 1999: Daelin is part of the group when [ The Master of Magic Dies]
  • March 20, 1999: Cordir and Deamhan An-Shalach are married by Thaygar. Daelin not only attends, he (gasp) roleplays. Sort of. At the reception afterwards, he presents the couple with a gift: Daelin says, 'I would like to offer to the.. inseparable souls.. my gift of potatoes. Representing pure starchy goodness. And gravy.. representing.. fattening, artery cloggin.. goodness.'
  • March, 1999: Daelin attends (and griefs) The Wedding of Hornblower And Bliss.
  • March 26, 1999: Daelin is silenced by Tynian, ad infinitum.
  • June 23, 1999: "No Emote" is added to Daelin's restrictions.
  • February 1, 2000: A new Inner Council of the Black Conclave of Nashite is announced and takes control. They include Salem the Black Dragon, High Wizard of the Black Conclave, Stouthbound, Minion of the Arch-Lich, Tylorn, Demonic Guardian of the Black Conclave, Chronic, Pale Cambion of the Black Conclave and Daelin, Grand Knight of the Black Conclave.
  • June 24, 2000: Daelin unsilenced by Tynian- this after almost a year of silence.
  • July 8, 2000: Daelin appears on the Rabhadh list for attacking Kennet D'Augustine, and stating his intention to "kill him as often as possible."
  • July 25, 1000: Lorna holds a sale. 3 baskets with unknown items in them. Daelin purchases the first and third baskets, for 800,000 gold each. His do not hold the big prize: instead, he gets a 39 tick sanct item and a pillow, ave 1, enchanted -9 hit/-9 dam. Mordith purchases the second basket for 400,000 gold. In it are Major Amulets of Anti-Theft, Steadfastness, Health, True Sight, and Blocking, as well as a Minor Amulet of Familiarity, and a Water Breathing amulet.
  • August 19, 2000: Daelin regales the realm with the 'official' rules for "Sloshball".
  • September 2, 2000: Daelin gossips (in common), 'Okay.. well it all started back in the 6th grade when I worked as a hostess at a strip club'. Abaddon gossips (in common), 'thats so wrong'. Cordir gossips, 'Oh dear. For once I agree with Abaddon.'. Abaddon tells Cordir (in common), 'this moment should be on your timeline "time and date - Cordir agreed with abaddon"'

2001 & 2002

  • January 2001: Daelin hits 3,000 hours of play.
  • August 16, 2001: Qiziquiment posts some silly ideas about a "fire man class" -- Daelin later discusses this on gossip, commenting that he has never once needed the spells "fire hose" or "fire pole". In response, Wylin gossips "c 'dalmation' daelin".
  • August 25, 2001: Daelin slays Riella, and is kind enough to allow a trade to be arranged to have her wedding ring returned, with Solaron of Fate trading +3 dam gloves for the wedding band. The momento is returned to Riella.
  • December 15, 2001: Daelin gossips (in common), 'I just spent a few minutes reading some of my old posts to the mailing list, and have come to a conclusion. Nobody knows anything except for me'.
  • January 8, 2002: There's a suggestion that EEL should be resurrected, and Tholbar later gossips (in common), 'thats it, someone get daelin online and give him a spoon!'.
  • January 12, 2002: Daelin held the rank of 10th most wealthy character on TFC, according to Goldrank, with 2,479,963 gold.
  • March 3, 2002: An impromptu vote on Gossip is held for the most famous mortal... votes include Stouthbound, Clue, Gaul, Noctus, Syrinx, Ozymandius Kaern, Alecto & Zara, Daelin, Ozious, Keller, Huey, and Pez.
  • June 13, 2002: Someone mentions that they were pkd, and Daelin gossips (in common), 'I mean.. corpse looting? That's so 1998'.
  • July 7, 2002: Daelin & Keller talk about arms.
  • August 15, 2002: Daelin gossips (in common), 'Yesteday I roleplayed being an annoying jerk and pissed a lot of people off'. 'and then I logged onto the mud'.

  • January 12, 2003: When Slue and a pile of his henchmen showed up in the Lair of the Ash Moon Coven, Daelin offered to help the invaders: Daelin gossips (in common), 'Where do I sign up, Slue?'. he also 'detained' Zeks in the Storytelling Amphitheater.
  • January 13, 2003: Daelin still appears on the Rabhadh list, with only 'one strike' against him: Attacking Kennet back in 2000. Daelin gossips (in common), 'I used to enjoy snapping his neck back and eating the sweet sweet goo inside'. Eww! (Oh wait, he's talking about Pez :P)
  • January 14, 2003: Daelin holds several polls on gossip (including 'Poll: When you see the name Grimace, are you reminded of a large purple blob?'. 'Poll: Do you believe that the character Grimace is part of a McDonalds advertising program designed to entice mudders to eat there' 'Poll: When non-clerics see bless cast, should it appear as the word "jerald" so the "You feel righteous" makes sense?'). Daelin runs a brief trivia contest, which Cordir wins, gaining a prize of over 150,000 gold.
  • January 18, 2003: Daelin gossips (in common), 'Hunting isn't fun anymore. It takes more than 3 minutes to scour the realm, and now there's a "southern" continent'.
  • February 22, 2003: Daelin declares a personal day of deception, using Indiga's title for a while.
  • December 24, 2004: Daelin reaches strike two on the Rabhadh list, for attacking Drakar in Gertek's Tomb.

At the time he was playing, Daelin lived in Southern California (Orange County) specifically. While he never showed up at one of the (many) SoCal GTs, he did meet Cordir and Gryphon at their apartment to chat for a bit in 1997 (ish).
