Day of Deception

The Day of Deception is a tradition started by Molo for his Black Conclave. The Conclave had mandated titles for each class and level - with the noted exception of the High Council - and woe unto the follower who did not abide by those rules. While his specific reasons for doing so are unknown, at some point early in his following's creation (but no later than October of 1997), Molo created the 'Day of Deception'. Followers were required to change their title to mimic that of another following to sow chaos and confusion, and perhaps provide a player-killing opportunity. This was immediately challenged by Syrinx, who felt that a following keyword should be sacrosanct and not usable by anyone outside that following. Syrinx VS Molo was the "court case" in which this was argued before the implementor, Madman, who ruled in favor of Molo. The titles were to be allowed: But only for a single day.

The use of deception in mortal titles was further clarified, when other Nashite followings took up the tradition of the Day of Deception. In Luvela VS Cordir, a further ruling was made by Nayr that while following keywords were permissible, the actual name of an immortal was not. The reasoning behind this was that mocking a following was allowed, but mocking an immortal through use of their name was disrespectful. As well, Ordained Classtitles could not be used in a Day of Deception. (See Below)

The final clarification with regards to Days of Deception was mandated by Khore. It was his ruling (09/04/2001) that while titles could mimic followings, Ordained Classtitles were off limits for 'deception'.

The 'Day of Deception' tradition was also taken up by non-Nashite followings, including the Wyld Hunt and Dawnbringers, and even sometimes by unaligneds.

To: all
Hi all *bow* :)
Some of you might have noticed just about all Clavers are using titles from other followings.
Be aware: These are fake titles, used to confuse us.
I must admit they play it well, they even told me Lord Molo had retired.
Well just wanted to warn you all.
Take care,
Noctus, Blade of Fate, Taoiseach of the Chosen

Luvela Vs Cordir:

[ 4] Luvela: An apology to the world
Sun Jun 11 00:05:04 2000
To: all
I need to take a moment to apologize for deceiving the mud
with my title [ Oracle ] Luvela, Wyld princess of Fate.
I know this act of evilness was a rotten vile thing to do
And Lord Nayr was perfectly just in removing my ordain
abilities and no titleing me for it. I would like to thank Him
Cordir, Lorna and Stouthbound for showing me that deceptive titles aren't
appropriate when being evil... and can be considered abusive to those
That wield the power.
Once again i apologize for my scary act of deception
I've been bad very bad.

Deceptive titles for the purpose of impersonating
someone else's following to make people think bad of them
is different from using deceptive titles for the purpose of trying
to hide your own following to get people to not notice you.
Dont compare your idiocy to the Conclave's days of deception.

You are an idiot but correct. There is a difference. The act of hiding ones fol
lowing
Is the act of a coward who does not believe they can stay alive otherwise.
Impersonating someones following for other reasons is an evil act of mischief.
I made the mistake of thinking mischief was still allowed in the realm with Syla
gone. I would like once again to Thank Nayr, Lorna, Cordir, and you to clarify
the error in my thinking.
