Gregar's Shame

Notes: At the time of these events, The Chosen of Fate were of the Hearth PK Model. An Fjust existed, but it was not allowed to be used by members of the following on behalf of others. As well, the Blades of Fate did not exist. Despite all this, Gregar initiated conflict twice in two days with two people on the Chosen watch lists: an Anathema and a Rabhadh. This is the text of an email to the Chosen of Fate email list, from Cordir, dated 10/29/2000.

To the Chosen of Fate:

It is with heavy heart that I lift quill to parchment and write to you today.

As I am certain you have heard, one of Ours committed several serious transgressions.

Violence was initiated by Gregar in the form of a Haunt, attacking Qithlorien, an Anathema currently on FJUST. I expressed my extreme unhappiness with that choice, immediately upon his gleeful declaration of his actions. I was so upset at the time that I told him I would not discuss the matter at that time, needing to calm down.

Gregar did so *again* the next day, attacking Alderson, a Rabhadh, currently on FJUST. This time, Gregar concealed his actions from me - I was informed by Alderson that this had been done. Only when I asked via Ftell who had done this thing, did Gregar mention it.

I took the issue to the email list, to inquire how people felt about this issue; whether or not my codes were clear on this, or if there was some room for confusion.

Gregar then told the Chosen of his choices, and that he did so without my consent, knowing it would upset me.

This matter was being debated by the Taoiseach, as it was the most grave violation of our codes and dictates in the history of the Chosen of Fate. I have heard from the majority of the Council, and was preparing to respond with my decision, when Gregar decided to leave. I am not certain, as of this moment, if he has sought a God+ reform or not. He has NOT received a release from me.

The decision I had come to was this:

I contacted the head of Gregar's household, the Destined, Trap Sturdivent-Tsarran, and asked him to speak with his adopted son. Trap is, as you all know, a man of undisputed personal honor and integrity, and I and he felt that if anyone could reach Gregar, it would be Trap.

IF that failed, I was prepared to offer Gregar two options.

First: Release from the Chosen into the Tigers, our Allies. Gregar has shown a fierce determination to aggressively protect the Chosen - an admirable goal - but not one within my Codes. The Tigers are our allies, and there his skills and protectiveness would be condoned and welcomed. Gregar has worked hard for the Chosen in the past - I would not turn him out as an enemy. His spirit simply needs to be with kindred souls. Wyrm. Growth along new pathways.

Second: Release from the Chosen into 300 hours (the Neutral release PK restriction hours) of service such as Boromir suggested. Manual labor and effort on the part of all newbies. Instruction. Leveling/exp assistance through teaching areas, granting spells, etc. Obtaining eq for newbies. In essence, becoming a mortal Ambassador, proving that his nature COULD be tamed. At the end of that 300 hours, he would be free to make a choice. Go elsewhere, or return to the Chosen, with a commensurately challenging entry quest. Weaver. Persevering through trial to hone the soul

However, Gregar has chosen a third option: To simply walk away. Wyld. Chaos incarnate, change, the rejection of oaths or rules of binding.

To be honest, I am sorrowed. I had hoped he would have the courage to face the repercussions of his actions. I may be misinterpreting his motives; it may be that by removing himself, he hoped to avoid any further shame to the Chosen. I don't know. As I said, I have not spoken with Gregar since his missive to the Chosen.

Sadly,
