'MAGIC ITEM RESTRICTIONS'
Pills and potions are ingested items and require no knowledge of use for them
to work. This is why all can use them.

Rings are special items made by the immortals and they have declared that all
may know the secrets of their use.

Mages may use the implements of magic - the wand, the scroll, the staff. None
but a mage can understand them well enough to make them function. Thieves may
learn to use the scroll after a time...but never the wand or the staff.

In order to use a faith item, the cleric must be totally one with the
imms... totally focused. By expanding one's skills to other things, the
cleric loses the ability to focus that clearly, that completely, on a faith
item. Distractions have increased by the increased commitments and ties to
the mortal plane. The ability to transcend that and be able to tap the power
of the faith item is severely hampered by the added ties to the mortal plane,
and to the profane nature of such things as "warrior skills" and "thieving
abilities".

The shaman have the fetish...and only a shaman can master their construction
and use. A cleric would not touch an item so profane and a mage would love to
study and understand it, but the fetish is not based on knowledge but on the
raw chaotic powers of the cosmos.
