Within The Tapestry of Fate
[Exits: north]
Stepping through the spider-web, you find yourself standing beneath countless stars... no, not stars, but strands of light, their incandescent glow pushing back the darkness that would otherwise overcome you.

You stand on a circular cathedra of dusky marble striated with silvery gray. Four titanic, equidistantly spaced archways of albescent jade yearn upward towards the lights above you. Sable fires seethe within three of them, a spider-web filling the fourth. In the center of the rostrum stands an intricately carved wooden loom. It is cool here, like the first misty chill of twilight, and you shiver slightly, hair prickling on the back of your neck as you realize: Perhaps this is no place for a mortal to be.
The Loom of the Weaver is here, coruscating with an unearthly radiance.
(Purple Aura) Nyx is here.

Nyx gets a ceramic water jug from an egg casing.

It is 4am on Rishanae the 8th, the month of the Lifegiving, in the year 2361.

Cordir closes the spider-web.

Nyx smiles happily.

Cordir nods.

Cordir raises one hand, and the Guardian spider drops from the web and onto her palm.

It speaks in your mind: *I am here as Witness. One seeks Mastery. Let them stand forth.*

Nyx rests.
Nyx stands up.
Nyx bows deeply.

At first you think it was just your imagination, but you are
sure you saw something over there... Ah, there it is. You
breathe a small sigh of relief as you recognize a tiny
midnight sprite flitting about. Although it's odd to find
one here, so far from- Something moved. Over there, in the
deepest shadows, something else moved. It was human-sized,
but it shifted with a grace few humans possess. You peer
into the darkness, barely suppressing a shiver. You know
it's out there. It has to be. Your hand grips your weapon
tightly. Then, suddenly, you see it. A lean figure is
standing not two steps from you, dressed completely in black.
Even the face is hidden, all of it but the eyes. You shudder.
Deep within those piercing grey eyes is a shifting web of
midnight strands, forming shapes that no mortal should
know the meaning of...
There is only one person this could be...
Nyx has a few bruises.
Nyx is using:

Cordir takes a deep breath, then slowly releases it.
Cordir says, 'It has ever been your nature to stand in the company of others, but yet apart. To teach you the importance of accepting aid from others, by showing you its utter lack, you may receive NO outside aid whatsoever for the duration of the Trial of Mastery . No asking for spells, advice, directions, etc. '

Cordir says, 'Do you accept this?'

Nyx prays (in common), 'Including from yourself, Lady?'

Cordir shakes her head. Cordir says, 'Mortal aid is not immortal choice.'

Cordir says, 'Do you accept this?'

Nyx says (in common), 'I do.'

Cordir nods.

Cordir says, 'The Wyrm bids you to seek and to learn. Often have you walked known Paths. The Wyrm demands the sacrifice of time and effort in learning. Those who have survived have a valuable lesson to share. Find and be able to name the six Elders described thus:'

Cordir says, 'Of the Six, two are shopkeepers, and both are female. Two wander, not bound to one chamber.'

Cordir says, 'Of the Six, one bears the stature of the pines he dwells near. Another is wise to life's pitfalls.'

Cordir says, 'Of the Six, two lie to the east, two to the west, one to the north, one to the south.'

Cordir says, 'Of the Six, one dwells in the golden city, one by the foggy sea, two by the plains, two in the trees'

Cordir says, 'Of the Six, one is time-eaten, one walks with roes and does, one a 'blue' lawbreaker, one hides her treasure.'

Cordir says, 'Of the Six, one has angry eyes, one clear blue eyes, one feasts, one starves.'

Cordir says, 'Of the Six, one is at peace, one is drunk, one is silent, one rages, one communes, one grins.'

Cordir says, 'Guidelines: All are from the Older Age of The Realm. (2x)'

Cordir says, 'Elder means there is a reference in their look description that they are elderly.'

Cordir says, 'Your quest shall begin outside the West Gate of Midgaard, on the Great Western Road.'

Cordir says, 'Do you accept this Trial for Wyrm?'

Nyx says (in common), 'Yes, I do.'

Cordir says, 'The Wyld bids you embrace chaos and change, through death and sacrifice.'

Cordir says, 'There are many Guildmasters of Thieves throughout the Realm. Prove your worthiness by slaying Three of them, one for each Aspect of the Triat. '

Cordir says, 'Make bags of them using your own skills.'

Cordir says, 'Also, you are bid to complete three acquisitions through Steal from those who have been named Anathema.'

Cordir says, 'And to complete three Corpse Retrievals (one for good, evil and neutral), returning the entire corpse and give up one object of your own that you value. The object may not be an edible item, or a wand/staff/scroll/potion, etc. It must be something of real value, i.e. equipment or jewelry, with a bonus of at least +2. Say The item may be an object gained while on Quest, but may NOT be a gift from anyone else. Only objects you have found yourself are acceptable sacrifices.'

Cordir says, 'Do you accept this Trial for Wyld?'

Nyx nods.

Nyx says (in common), 'I do.'

Cordir says, 'The Weaver bids you endure and sacrifice: Show your willingness to give up what you treasure most for the honors you seek. '

Cordir says, 'Your use of Shadow is forbidden until the completion of all other aspects of your Trial of Mastery.. Specifically:'

Cordir says, 'You may not conceal your person. (No Sneaking, Hiding, or use of scrolls for Invisibility, etc.) '

Cordir says, 'You may not conceal your tracks. (No Pass without Trace pills or scrolls, no flying, except to cross water and into air rooms.) '

Cordir says, 'You may not conceal your presence. You must announce via three channels that you are present - '

Cordir says, 'via Ftell, via Cant, and via tells to three individuals who would not hear you on the other two channels '

Cordir says, '(ie not a Chosen and not a thief, one must be Good, one Neutral, and one Evil.) - whenever you enter the Realm.'

Cordir says, 'do you accept this Trial in the name of the Weaver?'

Nyx blinks.
Nyx blinks again.

Nyx says (in common), 'If someone else makes me invisible of their own accord...'
Nyx says (in common), 'I must become visible, correct?'

Cordir says, 'Yes.'

Nyx sits down and thinks deeply.
Nyx says (in common), 'Oh, my.'

Cordir nods slowly.
Cordir says, 'Only the sacrifice of what is held most dear is worthy of Weaver.'

Cordir says, 'She demanded my voice, I, the Ebon Bard.'

Nyx nods slowly.
Nyx says (in common), 'So I understand.'

Cordir says, 'Can you meet Her demanded sacrifice?'

Nyx takes a deep breath.
Nyx says (in common), 'I will do so.'

Cordir nods.
Cordir says, 'Then remove the garb of one who lives in shadow.'
Cordir says, 'And drop them to the cathedra floor.'
Cordir says, 'garbed only in your faith.'

Nyx stops using a black velvet doublet.
Nyx drops a black velvet doublet. As it hits the floor, it vanishes in a flash.
A thundering voice screams, 'Nyx HAS DESECRATED HOLY GROUND!'

Nyx stops using a pair of black velvet leggings.

A thundering voice screams, 'Nyx HAS DESECRATED HOLY GROUND!'

Nyx sighs loudly.
Nyx says (in common), 'It is done...'

Cordir nods slowly.

Amblin ftells, 'i miss anything?'

Cordir says, 'Complete these trials in the name of the Triat, and be known as Master.'

Nyx bows before you.
Nyx says (in common), 'These I will do.'

Cordir steps forward, taking up your hands.
Cordir holds your hands in her own, lightly.
Cordir closes her eyes for a moment.

You see a slight glowing appear upon your skin....
Your own Pattern alighting, flaring, changing shape with the momentous impact of the choice just made...

Cordir releases your hands, and steps back, opening her eyes.

Cordir murmurs softly (in Thoras), 'Nyx, I am well proud of thee... and have full faith in thee...'

Nyx bows deeply.

Cordir nods.

Nyx says (in old-common), 'Thank you, my Lady.'

Cordir says (in old-common), 'Now, garb thyself.'

[Nyx clothes himself]

Nyx says (in old-common), 'No spells of darkness, either?'

Cordir says (in old-common), 'correct'

Nyx winces. Ouch!

Cordir says (in old-common), 'Nothing of obscurement.'

Nyx says (in old-common), 'Right.'
Nyx says (in old-common), 'Well... this will certainly lighten up my load...'

Nyx smiles a bit.
Nyx chuckles, evidently amused.

Cordir says (in old-common), 'I have faith in you, Shadow.'

Nyx says (in old-common), 'I fear this quest will take longer than that.'

Nyx smiles happily.

Nyx prays (in old-common), '(occ: Must change macros before I fail this quest w/ my first step out the door... afw a sec)'

Nyx looks around.

Nyx utters the words, 'armor'

Nyx says (in old-common), 'I feel so... visible.'

Cordir nods.

Cordir says (in old-common), 'consider yourself to have just entered the Realm'

Nyx nods.

Nyx ftells, 'Greetings, Chosen.'

Nyx cants, 'Greetings, thieves and immortals...'

You ftell, 'Greetings, Nyx'

Amblin ftells, 'Hello'

Nyx cants, 'Greetings to those of you who don't speak that, as well...'

To: All in the realm

In all the history of the world
only one hand's span and one have dared brave it.
In all the history of the world
only one hand's span have succeeded.
Let it be known that for the first time in an Age
one stands forth to test his faith.
For the Weaver, he will sacrifice and persevere,
forbidden the Shadows that are his home.
For the Wyld, he will slay and change
pitting himself against equal and anathema
For the Wyrm, he will learn and grow
seeking and learning from those who survive the ages.
This day, Nyx, Faileas Dhan, Ebon Messenger of the Chosen of Fate,
sets foot upon the torturous path.
His goal, Triat Mastery.

You ftell, 'And with that... I must be gone.'
You ftell, 'Good luck, Nyx.'

Nyx bows deeply.

Nyx ftells, 'Thank you, Lady.'

Amblin ftells, '*wave*'

You ftell, 'Brave indeed, to thank me for what I have set upon you.'
You ftell, 'Be well.'
You ftell, 'I shall return this eve.'

Fare thee well!
