In this log, Clue, in her mortal days, schools a young Kindred in the ways of their kind.

Vampris arrives from the east.

Clue curtseys in response to Vampris's bow.

Room of Records
[Exits: east]
This simple room has many plaques hung on its walls. With just a quick
glance you recognize names and events that have made history and inspired
many to even greater deeds so that their names would also be inscribed
here. It's possible, given valiant effort, great deeds, and a (in)famous
reputation, that your name might be added here.

A book on a lectern provides an index to all the different plaques.
Vampris is here.

Clue grins vampishly. The tips of fangs show past her lips.

Vampris says (in common), 'do you have some time ma'am?'.

Vampris nods.

You nod.

Vampris curls a lip revealing a fang.

look vampris
You see nothing special about her.
Vampris is in perfect health.

Vampris is using:
<used as light> (Glowing) a war banner
<worn on finger> (Weak magic) the shattered lapis lazuli ring
<worn around neck> a cotton scarf
<worn around neck> a cotton scarf
<worn on body> a khaki vest
<worn on head> a red cap
<worn on legs> (Moderate magic) a pair of animal hide pants
<worn on feet> a pair of soft leather boots
<worn on hands> a pair of thick gloves
<worn on arms> a pair of short bracers
<worn about body> (Weak magic) a heavy cloth shawl
<worn around wrist> (Moderate magic) the rusty obsidian bracelet
<worn around wrist> (Weak magic) a studded leather bracer
<wielded> (Token magic) (Glowing) a pummel stick

Vampris says (in common), 'I wish to know how you do it?'.

You say (in old-common), 'do what?'.

Vampris says (in common), 'resist the thirst?'.
Vampris says (in common), 'I never learned'.

You say (in old-common), 'i don't'.

Vampris raises an eyebrow.

You say (in old-common), 'i'm nowhere near old enough in the blood to do so'.

Vampris says (in common), 'so you drink regularly?'.

You say (in old-common), 'yes'.

Vampris says (in common), 'how? doesn't your oath to fate forbid you?'.

You say (in old-common), 'no, not if i feed from volunteers'.

Vampris says (in common), 'I had not thought of that'.
Vampris says (in common), 'getting someone to volunteer can't be an easy task though'.
Vampris says (in common), 'I fear some day I shall drink too deep though'.

You say (in old-common), 'usually, i find a janitor or messenger in my hometown'.

Vampris nods.
Vampris says (in common), 'I hate to ponder what will happen that day'.

You say (in old-common), 'one of two things will happen ... if it's a mortal, the mortal will die'.
You say (in old-common), 'if another vamp, you will become enslaved'.

Vampris says (in common), 'and if it's an immortal?'.

You say (in old-common), 'i've had imm blood once ... it was a tremendous rush'.
You say (in old-common), 'my senses were so nearly overloaded'.

Vampris says (in common), 'enslaved? how so?'.

You say (in old-common), 'i don't know for sure ... just what Darkclaw told me'.

Vampris raises an eyebrow.

You say (in old-common), 'she said if i drink from her three times ...'.
You say (in old-common), 'but after a cup of Lady Cordir's blood, i did not thirst for a very long time'.

Vampris raises an eyebrow.

You nod.

Vampris says (in common), 'isn't there another of.... the vampires in fate?'.

You say (in old-common), 'two ... Cirth and Darkclaw'.

Vampris says (in common), 'I must admit I struggle with this'.

You say (in old-common), 'as do i'.

Vampris says (in common), 'I never knew either of my parents'.
Vampris says (in common), 'the people in my village hate me because they fear me'.

You say (in old-common), 'i know my blood-father'.

Vampris nods in recognition to you.
Vampris says (in common), 'you are lucky then'.

You say (in old-common), 'i was essentially orphaned at birth'.

Vampris says (in common), 'I never had any guidance'.
Vampris says (in common), 'what can you teach me of controlling these urges?'.

You say (in old-common), 'my mother died protecting me during a raid, my father ran away'.

Vampris says (in common), 'my mother was a whore'.
Vampris says (in common), 'who knows who the father was'.

You say (in old-common), 'control them by giving in when necessary'.

Vampris shudders noticeably.

You say (in old-common), 'feed when the thirst hits ... if you don't .... *shudder*'.

Vampris says (in common), 'but what if I go too far? what if I can't control myself?'.

You say (in old-common), 'if you go too long when thirsty, you'll go berserk and attack anyone'.

Vampris's eyes get really big.

You say (in old-common), 'at least that's what i'm told'.

Vampris says (in common), 'that just won't do'.
Vampris says (in common), 'I'm not evil'.

You say (in old-common), 'Cirth has said he'll teach me ... perhaps you can sit in too'.

Vampris says (in common), 'I'm not a bad person'.

You say (in old-common), 'i'm not either'.

Vampris screams 'I hate what I was born into!'

Vampris trembles a single tear falling from her eye.

You say (in old-common), 'when i start to be too long 'tween feedings, i get all shuddery'.
You say (in old-common), 'i was not born into it ... i chose it, recently'.

Vampris says (in common), 'then you're a fool'.
Vampris says (in common), 'I would happily take my own life to rid myself of this burden if I could'.

You say (in old-common), 'i was bereaved ... and nearly mindless'.
You say (in old-common), 'my husband of nearly two millennia ....'.

A small black spider creeps out from one of the corners.

You say (in old-common), 'Guardian?'.

Vampris looks at the spider.

The spider crawls over to Clue, and pauses next to her boot.

Vampris says (in common), 'what manner of creature is this?'.

Clue bends down and extends a palm for the spider.

Vampris puzzles at the spiders' curious behaviour.

The spider crawls up onto her hand.

You say (in old-common), 'i don't regret my choice ... i'm so free now ...'.

Vampris sits down and thinks deeply.

The spider looks up at Clue, and drops a bit of silk, weaving it between her fingers.

Clue stands and examines the spider, looking for familiar markings.

The spider pauses at Clue's fingertips, and allows the silk to drift.

The spider looks up at Clue and tilts its head to one side.

You say (in old-common), 'i think, perhaps, it's attempting to bind us'.

Vampris says (in common), 'bind us? how so?'.

You say (in old-common), 'in its web'.

Clue extends her hand toward Vampris.

The spider bites Clue lightly, hissing again.

Vampris takes clues hand.

Vampris now follows you.

The spider bites Vampris's fingers, hissing angrily.

Vampris reels back.

Clue listens to the intent of the spider.

The spider picks up the bit of silk she left dangling.

The spider looks up at Clue with all eight eyes gleaming.

Vampris stops following you.

Clue cocks her head, trying to comprehend.

The spider tilts its head to one side, and visibly gathers its strength.
The spider whispers (in old-common), "The future is ever being woven."
The spider whispers (in old-common), "All that you do, weaves it further."

You say (in old-common), 'did you hear it?'.

The spider whispers (in old-common), "He is not gone. Only... passed to new Patterns. Yet you had become stagnant."
The spider whispers (in old-common), "Every spider knows when to tear down old webs and spin anew."
The spider pauses, seemingly exhausted.

Clue nods to the spider.

The spider whispers (in old-common), "My strength is low. Binding the Daughter is wearying."

You say (in old-common), 'thank you, Guardian'.

The spider whispers (in old-common), "I just return to the garden and help Eleae."

Vampris nods.

The spider drops down from Clue's hand on a bit of silk.
The spider reaches the floor and slowly crawls back into the shadows and disappears.
There is a small pinprick of indigo and cyan light, and She is gone.

You nod at yourself. Are you getting senile?

You say (in old-common), 'that was .... interesting'.
You say (in old-common), 'if you want advice on the life, i'd advise you to ask Darkclaw or Cirth ... they've both been vamps way longer than i'.
You say (in old-common), 'i think Guardian was trying to help me straighten out my thoughts'.

Vampris says (in common), 'on what?'.

You say (in old-common), 'each new thing changes the pattern slightly'.

Vampris says (in common), 'I shall have to come back and speak with cirth or darkclaw'.

You say (in old-common), 'that's what i do'.

Vampris says (in common), 'for now I must go'.
Vampris says (in common), 'be well clue'.
Vampris says (in common), 'thank you for your time'.
Vampris bows deeply.

You hug her.

Vampris blinks.
Vampris blushes.

You say (in old-common), 'and i'll answer what i can'.
You say (in old-common), 'or find the answer'.

Vampris gives something that might be taken as a smile.

<at this point, Vampris leaves the game and Clue returns to the Sanctuary of Fate>

The Sanctuary of Fate
[Exits: north]
The breathtaking loveliness of a midnight shadowed garden embraces you. The
night sky is filled with stars... no, not stars, but strands of light which
shimmer at the edges of sight. The soft call of unseen birds provides sweet
melody to please the ear and the low hoot of an owl echoes out of the trees.
A thick tangle of web-shrouded briar roses marks the boundaries of the area
and every conceivable variety of flower blooms within, despite the darkness.
Here and there, care has been taken to create gathering places in the glade,
from an intimate nook of soft, thick moss beneath a veiling willow tree, to
a low, gentle dell where a large group could rest in comfort. Each cardinal
point is marked by its own unique archway. Ebon flames beckon within a trio
of them, and the fourth is sealed by an enormous spiderweb. At the heart of
the clearing is a large round seal of orichalcum.
A small weaving loom is barely visible amidst the trees.
(Intense Light Cyan Aura) Cordir is here.

You say (in old-common), 'that was ... interesting'.

Cordir smiles happily.

Cordir says, 'what was?'.

You say (in old-common), 'young Vampris came to ask me about controlling the thirst ...'.
You say (in old-common), 'and as i was explaining my choices to her, Guardian climbed out of the shadows to encourage me'.

Cordir says, 'Guardian crawled up into Elae's tree a while back.'.
Cordir says, 'I haven't seen her since.'.
Cordir glances over at the willow by the pool.

You say (in old-common), 'she said she was returning to assist Elae'.

Clue looks around the glen, wishing to thank Guardian.
