Not so long ago, I thought that the only scores out there were set with the reboot and once these were gone, (gee, i don't see any with traveling troubador or with locate...) I'd have to wait for the next reboot to get more, and/or hope that somebody else would drop some in the pit. I would log on periodically to check the pit and log back off again--and i've seen other bards doing this recently.

The good news is, I was wrong. The bad news is, You've got to go get them.

When any mob pops, there is a (slight) chance that a score will pop on them. But scores also pop on mob death, and (correct me if i'm wrong on this, you moderators out there) the probability of a bard popping a score is higher than that of other characters. This is why occaisonally, you'll come across 2 scores on one mob-one popped on generation, and one on death.

From my own experience, the frequency of a death pop seems to be related to the mob level as well as your own hp/mana depletion. naked mobs that can't hit you seem to pop scores extremely rarely, but 'no-contest' mobs that do some damge to you are far more likely to pop scores.

In short, don't make the same mistake as I did at lower level. Don't wait for someone else to get the scores, go kill something and get 'em yourself. Although you will eventually level your mage level if you sit back and depend on the kindness of strangers, you'll do so much quicker (and pick up some xp in the process,) if you get out there yourself.

Samiyah's Notes

  • Different types of scores cost different amounts of mana to memorize! Higher level scores take more mana than lower level. A bard ability score can take upwards of 70 mana to memorize.

Amusing Scores

As score titles are taken from actual songs that have been submitted, sometimes the combinations can be a bit bawdy. Here are some interesting scores submitted:

12/13/12 : Gheorghe hums an improbable song that sounds like 'Come to my portal'.
12/23/12 : Samiyah hums a few bars to an improbable song, 'tongues of fantasy'.
